Session outline

In the ever-evolving landscape of research dissemination, the ability to effectively communicate and promote research findings is paramount. For professionals in the field of rehabilitation, where ground breaking discoveries can significantly impact patient care and quality of life, mastering the art of research promotion is essential. To address this need, we have designed this workshop with the following objectives:

  1. Identify the most effective social media platforms for promoting research articles in rehabilitation.
  2. Learn tips and tricks for creating engaging and eye-catching social media posts.
  3. Gain practical experience by creating a post and a 1-minute reel for research promotion.

Workshop Structure:

This short workshop will be of 90 minutes. It will be a combination of interactive group discussion and hands-on sessions beginning with a dynamic discussion on choosing the right social media platforms for research promotion. We will delve into the unique strengths of each platform, helping participants identify the ideal platform to reach their target audience effectively.

Next, we explore the art of crafting engaging social media posts. Participants will receive valuable insights and practical tips for creating attention-grabbing content, leveraging visuals, headlines, and strategic hashtags. Real-world examples of successful research promotion posts will inspire participants to elevate their own efforts.

Building on this foundation, we transition to creating 1-minute reels—a powerful tool for capturing the essence of research in a visually compelling format. Workshop attendees will gain hands-on experience in scripting, filming, and editing concise and impactful research reels. Practical guidance and a showcase of effective research reels will set participants on the path to crafting their own.

The heart of the workshop lies in the hands-on activity, where participants form small groups and select a research article, either real or hypothetical, relevant to the field of rehabilitation. Armed with the knowledge and skills acquired in the earlier sessions, groups collaboratively create a social media post and a 1-minute reel to promote their chosen research.

Facilitator will provide guidance, support, and access to necessary equipment and software. Participants will have the opportunity to experiment, learn from their peers, and receive constructive feedback on their content creations.

The workshop culminates in a sharing and feedback session, where each group presents their social media post and research reel to the larger group. Facilitators and peers provide valuable insights, highlighting what worked well and suggesting areas for improvement. This collaborative exchange enhances the learning experience and fosters a supportive community of practice.

This workshop will equip the participants with the tools, knowledge, and practical skills needed to effectively promote research articles in the ever changing world of social media.
