Professor David Copland is Director of the Queensland Aphasia Research Centre and Co-Director of the STARS Education and Research Alliance. David is a speech pathologist and internationally recognised expert in post-stroke aphasia rehabilitation. He leads the Neurobiological and Psychosocial Predictors of Recovery Program of the NHMRC Centre of Research Excellence in Aphasia Recovery and Rehabilitation and leads the Cognition and Aphasia Working Group of the International Collaboration of Aphasia Trialists. His program of research investigates the neurobiology of language, predictors and mechanisms of aphasia recovery, and the development and delivery of aphasia treatments. A particular focus is the implementation of comprehensive intensive aphasia programs, applications of technology in rehabilitation, and consumer engagement in research.
